When you system restarts with CD in place, you can move information from your hard disk drive to another hard disk disk drive or to USB thumb drive / USB Pen or to a CD or CD writer

REMEMBER if you install anything to the drive then you will loose data, just about every operating system or boot disk out there will alter some part of your hard disk

In most cases when Windows will not start you have to remember that none of your data has been lost you just dont have a way to get to it.

This Dell XPS boot disk is designed to get you to your data when Windows just wont work.

This boot CD Disk will even work if your computer has the blue sceen of death BSOD or even if you have no access due to password protection!

It will work on Windows 95 98 ME NT 2000 XP and Vista! Do not use this boot CD if your drives are physically damaged.

If your drive was making strange sounds that you have not heard before such as whirring clicking or buzzing you should get professional data help (preferably not from your dentist!!).

If your computer was damaged in a flood a power surge or any other kind of disaster get the help of a professional service.

In these situations any further use of the drive will cause more damage making data retrieval more expensive or impossible.

If you have accidentally deleted files or reformatted a drive it is imperative that you do not write anything to the drive

This means that you must not download or install software that will attempt to recover data from the drive by un-deleting it as this will also try to write data back onto the affected drive.

You should only use software that does not write to the drive in any way.

You can use this boot CD to get into your hard disk so that you can recover your files.

If your Dell is already setup to auto boot from CD then just put the CD in and you should have a recognizable useful windows type interface in a few minutes.

If your Dell system does not boot from CD remember that you need to make sure that it is setup to boot from a CD

Most computers have the ability to boot from CD but are not set up to do it.

In this case you might need to restart the PC and enter BIOS setup or BIOS features by pressing Delete or another hardware-specific key on start-up.

When you configure the boot medium remember that it doesn't have to be the CD exclusively or even first .. it's fine to sequence a floppy drive before the CD .

All you need is to ensure that the CD is present as a recognized boot source.

Save the new configuration and you should be ready to start.

DATA RECOVERY

The first thing you will want to do is copy your important data off of you defective system onto another type of media

Failing that you can copy the files you need to a USB key - thumb drive or what ever you like to call it!
