Encrypt CD DVD Drive Encryption Software enCrypt is a software for an on-the-fly-encrypted CD DVD or Hard Disk Drive data storage device. On-the-fly encryption means that data are automatically encrypted or decrypted right before they are loaded or saved, without any user intervention. No data stored on an encrypted CD DVD or Hard Disk Drive can be read (decrypted) without using the correct password or correct encryption keys as the complete file system is encrypted

Files can be copied to and from a mounted enCrypt drive just like they are on any normal disk. this software makes any mounted encrypted drive behave exactly like a real physical device. that means you can watch videos from it. or put pictures in it and view them as if they were on a hard disk. you can even install software inside the encrypted drive.

For instance if there was an .mpg video file stored on a enCrypt CD DVD or Hard Disk Drive (therefore, the video file is entirely encrypted). The user provides the correct password and mounts the enCrypt CD DVD or Hard Disk Drive. When the user double clicks the icon of the video file, the operating system launches the application associated with the file type – typically a media player. The media player then begins loading a small initial portion of the video file from the enCrypt-encrypted USB Flash Drive (Thumb Drive - USB Key) to RAM in order to play it. While the portion is being loaded, enCrypt is automatically decrypting it (in RAM). The decrypted portion of the video (stored in RAM) is then played by the media player. While this portion is being played, the media player begins loading next small portion of the video file from the enCrypt-encryptedCD DVD or Hard Disk Drive to RAM and the process repeats. This process is called on-the-fly encryption decryption and it works for all file types, not only for video files.

Note that enCrypt never saves any decrypted data to a disk – it only stores them temporarily in RAM. Even when theCD DVD or Hard Disk Drive is mounted, data stored in theCD DVD or Hard Disk Drive is still encrypted. When you restart Windows or turn off your computer, the USB Flash Drive (Thumb Drive - USB Key) will be dismounted and files stored in it will be inaccessible (and encrypted). Even when power supply is suddenly interrupted (without proper system shut down), files stored in theCD DVD or Hard Disk Drive are inaccessible (and encrypted). To make them accessible again, you have to mount theCD DVD or Hard Disk Drive and provide the correct password .

To leave the best till last this software will also work on any other device including a normal hard disk drive.

It may happen that you are forced to reveal the password to an encrypted volume. There are many situations where you cannot refuse to reveal the password (for example, due to extortion or court order). Using a hidden volume allows you to solve such situations without revealing the password to your volume!

The principle is that a enCrypt volume is created within another enCrypt volume (within the free space on the volume). Even when the outer volume is mounted, it is impossible to prove whether there is a hidden volume within it or not, because free space on any enCrypt volume is always filled with random data when the volume is created* and no part of the (dismounted) hidden volume can be distinguished from random data. Note that enCrypt does not modify the file system (information about free space, etc.) within the outer volume in any way.

The password for the hidden volume must be different from the password for the outer volume. To the outer volume, (before creating the hidden volume within it) you should copy some sensitive looking files that you actually do NOT want to hide. These files will be there for anyone who would force you to hand over the password. You will reveal only the password for the outer volume, not for the hidden one. Files that really are sensitive will be stored on the hidden volume.

In cryptography, the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), also known as Rijndael, is a block cipher adopted as an encryption standard by the U.S. government. It has been analyzed extensively and is now used widely worldwide as was the case with its predecessor,[3] the Data Encryption Standard (DES). AES was announced by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as U.S. FIPS PUB 197 (FIPS 197) on November 26, 2001 after a 5-year standardization process (see Advanced Encryption Standard process for more details). It became effective as a standard May 26, 2002. As of 2006, AES is one of the most popular algorithms used in symmetric key cryptography. It is available by choice in many different encryption packages.

Serpent 256 128 LRW
Serpent is a symmetric key block cipher which was a finalist in the Advanced Encryption Standard contest, where it came second to Rijndael. Serpent was designed by Ross Anderson, Eli Biham, and Lars Knudsen.Like other AES submissions, Serpent has a block size of 128 bits and supports a key size of 128, 192 or 256 bits. The cipher is a 32-round substitution-permutation network operating on a block of four 32-bit words. Each round applies one of eight 4-bit to 4-bit S-boxes 32 times in parallel. Serpent was designed so that all operations can be executed in parallel, using 32 1-bit slices. This maximizes parallelism, but also allows use of the extensive cryptanalysis work performed on DES.

Twofish 256 128 LRW
In cryptography, Twofish is a symmetric key block cipher with a block size of 128 bits and key sizes up to 256 bits. It was one of the five finalists of the Advanced Encryption Standard contest, but was not selected for standardisation. Twofish is related to the earlier block cipher Blowfish.Twofish's distinctive features are the use of pre-computed key-dependent S-boxes, and a relatively complex key schedule. One half of an n-bit key is used as the actual encryption key and the other half of the n-bit key is used to modify the encryption algorithm (key-dependent S-boxes). Twofish borrows some elements from other designs; for example, the pseudo-Hadamard transform (PHT) from the SAFER family of ciphers. Twofish uses the same Feistel structure as DES.On most software platforms Twofish is slightly slower than Rijndael (the chosen algorithm for Advanced Encryption Standard) for 128-bit keys, but somewhat faster for 256-bit keys.

Standard AES will encrypt on the fly at about 70Mb /s both ways on a hard disk drive.

This software really is very very easy to use (no my granny hasn't used this one!) and once mounted you type in a password the drive appears and you use it like any other drive.
