Lost eRecovery Password

Obtaining Hacking Crack the Acer eRecovery Password.
The default password for the acer recovery partition is 6 zeros or 000000

If this does not work then you can hack the password out as described below

In the recovery partion there is a file called
\TOOLS\AIMDRS.DAT
This file contains the password

You can use a disk editor or a partition manager like partitionmagix or acronis disk director
either that or you can risk it and set the D2D to on in the BIOS by pressing Alt F10 just after the POST BIOS screens and then press Ctrl-C when the system boots to the recovery partition , the Ctrl-c will break you out of the autoexec.bat startup file

After that is just:
TYPE TOOLS/AIMDRS.DAT

This wont be the same for every acer laptop , but the idea should work, if you only recently changed the password, list the file by modified date as it will be a small file that was the latest to be modified..

post any other questions in our forum

eRecovery Procedure

Before you perform the upgrade to Windows or just to make backups, Vista it is recommended that you create a CD/DVD backup of either the Acer Recovery CDs which are preinstalled in the hidden partition of your Notebook or a self created user backup which can exist on partition D: of your hard disk and will be shown only by the eRecovery utility. With these backups you will able to go back to your old configuration at any poin tin time in efect creating a complete Factory Reset Or Factory System Recovery

** PLEASE NOTE The default eRecovery password is “000000”

There are two versions of eRecovery

Version 1.x

You must have a D: partition on your hard drive which is default setting by Acer Factory preload. : partition must be big enough for your user backup and it must be FAT32 formatted. If these requirements are not met eRecovery and this proceedure will not work

1. Start the eManager with the “e”-key on your notebook or the “e”-icon on your Windows desktop

2. If you have changed the password during usage of eRecovery please use your own password

4. Choose option “Recovery settings” to create a backup of your own user configuration or a backup of the original Acer Recovery image.

5. For now all software will still be on a paid for basis. Watch this space. we are also releasing three new websites in the next month.. hmm [:p]
